Event Details

Inventing The Impossible is a workshop with artist Paul Timoney in character as Leonardo da Vinci with his colleague Mona Lisa. These workshops explore how Leonardo da Vinci used drawing as a means of exploring and developing ideas. His notebooks are populated with observational drawings exploring people, their expressions, musculature and movement. There are theories about the inner workings of the digestive system, eyes and brain. This workshop allows the participants to meet Leonardo and Mona Lisa who will show them some pages from Leonardo’s notebooks and explain his process, emphasising the relationship between focused observation and free imagination. Participants will also get to make their own Renaissance drawing tools. Through the workshops, participants will end up with a drawing of the Mona Lisa on a large sheet of paper surrounded by a variety of interesting questions and ideas. Midlands Science will document these works for display at a later date and circulation online.  This is a closed invitation only event. We are delighted to be working with Birr Brownies this year as they do so much to promote STEM.
