Event Details

The discovery of insulin 101 years transformed the lives of millions of people. Insulin is truly a medical marvel as prior to its discovery, the main recommendation was a diet that so limited, people often died of starvation. 101 years after its discovery, we wanted to take a look back at the impact it has had and also share some key research and advice for those who experience diabetes.

This online event brings together Dr Craig Slattery of UCD, who has extensively researched diabetes, and Dr. Kate Gajewska, Clinical Manager for Advocacy and Research with Diabetes Ireland. Together they explore the science of diabetes and offer practical tips for ways to manage and live well with this condition. Midlands Science Festival is supported by the Science Foundation Ireland Discover Programme as part of national Science Week.

There is no need to book for this event as the video will be available on our YouTube Channel from Monday November 14th at 4pm.
