These workshops in association with Waterways Ireland are an opportunity to explore how science can help us to explore and understand the world around us. Environmental expert Paula Farrell introduces pupils to the rich biodiversity of the River Shannon. They will also look at the features of a river and compared the river and canal networks in Ireland. Each group has the opportunity to meet some freshwater invertebrates and newts during hands-on activities throughout the day! There are four workshops per day and primary school classes can book a workshop by contacting Portlaoise Library on 057 8622333 from October 11th when booking will be available.
