Did you know that archaeologists use lots of scientific techniques to figure out what life was like in Ireland hundreds and even thousands of years ago? These primary school workshops at Treo Nua are a great opportunity to explore the archaeological evidence of the Vikings with reference to Laois. Educators from the National Museum of Ireland will have lots of replica artefacts and raw materials, which you can pick up and take a closer look at. Use this evidence to solve the puzzle and discover how the Vikings cleverly used antler, wood, bone and amber in centuries past! This event is part of a partnership between the National Museum and Midlands Science to bring museum outreach to the midlands region. The Laois events are presented in association with the Heritage Office of Laois County Council. These workshops are now fully booked by school groups but a free family in event takes place in the afternoon between 3pm and 5pm. Image copyright the National Museum of Ireland.
