Achieving our Mission

Midlands Science works to progress education attainment in the region focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and our hope is that young people will better understand that science can be fun and therefore be encouraged to pursue careers in science related fields. We also wish to help teachers, providing them with resources that they wouldn’t normally use and get students thinking about science beyond the lab. Finally, we hope that parents will feel more confident about supporting science and understand that it requires investment if we are to address the current science skills gap in Irish society.

We would like to thank all of the organisations and individuals who have supported our work over the past few years. It is thanks to them that people of all ages right across the region are given the opportunities to explore and discover the wonders of science in a variety of free, exciting and innovative ways.

Would you like to partner with Midlands Science?

Every year we provide science and technology experiences and activities to primary school children, second level students, families and the general public across four counties and this work would not be possible without the support of our partners, funders and sponsors, individuals who help us achieve our objective to promote the important message that science is all around us, is a good career option and is so diverse and multifaceted.

Our annual Midlands Science Festival is an example of one event produced in collaboration with a number of academic and corporate partners to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to explore science. There are a number of ways in which you can support the festival and some of the other STEM education projects that we run throughout the year. If this is of interest please contact Pauline Nally on pnally@midlandsscience.ie for more information.
